Columbia Kicks Off Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Honor the Dream Food Drive
Hey there, Columbia! Are you ready to make a difference this holiday season? It’s time for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Honor the Dream Food Drive, and it’s officially kicked off! Last week, the City of Columbia, along with Richland School District One and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Foundation, launched this wonderful initiative that aims to feed those in need right here in our community.
Honoring a Great Legacy
Why do we do this? Well, it’s all about honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his incredible legacy of service. His commitment to bettering the lives of others continues to inspire us all. This food drive, which started on November 11 and runs until December 9, is a fantastic way for everyone to come together and show some love to our neighbors. Every bit counts, and with the holiday season upon us, it’s the perfect time to give back!
What to Donate
If you’re wondering what to contribute, the food drive is asking for some specific items. You can help by donating:
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Canned meats
- Dry goods, like rice or pasta
If it fits in your pantry, it can fit in someone else’s as well! Your generous donations will go directly to the Harvest Hope Food Bank, which works tirelessly to provide food to families in need across our region.
