Hello Columbia residents! We’ve got some scrumptious news for you that’s sure to get your taste buds tingling. Along with the promise of some delicious chicken wings, a new Wingstop is gearing up to join the rapidly growing food scene in our beloved city! That’s right! A construction permit has been issued for this popular chicken wing chain, and it’s landing at 185 Earth Road in Elgin — within a brand-new shopping center that will also be home to a spacious Publix grocery store.

This Wingstop will become the sixth location in the Columbia area. The chain is famous for its finger-licking good chicken wings, chicken sandwiches, and crispy fries. It’s a major player in the fast-food scene with more than 2,000 locations spread across the nation! Talk about a wing kingdom!
And guess what? Just a couple of months ago, a fifth Wingstop was announced for Garners Ferry Road, so it looks like chicken enthusiasts are in for a treat! As the city flourishes, there’s a buzz of excitement as it continues to expand with more homes, apartments, and new businesses. It truly feels like a culinary wave is coming to take Columbia by storm!
A Community in Growth
To paint you a clearer picture, this new shopping center, which houses the upcoming Wingstop, will also include the city’s 13th Publix. This allows folks in the area to enjoy the convenience of grocery shopping and grabbing a bite of wings all in one go! The center itself is an impressive 49,000 square feet of space, featuring eight commercial suites sure to attract other exciting retailers.
And let’s not forget the fantastic location—sitting at the corner of Earth Road and Spears Creek Church Road! With more traffic flowing into this bustling area as more families move in, the city plans to widen Spears Creek Church Road starting in 2026 to accommodate everyone. It sure seems like this neighborhood is set for some serious growth!
