Meet Jessica Hudson — Our New Executive Director!
The Unumb Center has just announced the appointment of Jessica Hudson, BCBA, as the new executive director! Jessica is not just any newcomer; she’s a Lexington native with over 16 years of experience under her belt in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). For those who may be unfamiliar, ABA is a widely recognized approach to helping individuals with autism develop the skills they need to lead fulfilling lives.
Prior to joining the Unumb Center, Jessica held impressive roles, including serving as the Director of Clinical Operations for the Autism Center of Excellence in Raleigh-Durham. She also has experience as Clinical Director at BlueSprig Pediatrics in Greenville and Co-Director of Staff Development at Carolina Behavioral Specialists. Talk about a dynamic background!
A Vision for Growth
Jessica has shared her excitement about her new role, stating, “The Unumb Center is renowned nationally and globally for its impact in the autism community. It’s an honor to lead this organization as we expand our mission to serve individuals across all stages of life.” Doesn’t that just warm your heart? She’s ready to build on the foundation laid by Lorri Unumb, the founder and board chair, and her dedicated team.
What’s in Store for the Future?
So, what can we expect from the Unumb Center moving forward? Well, for starters, the Center has been on a journey of growth since its inception in 2010. It started with just one program, the Autism Academy of South Carolina, and has blossomed into a fully-fledged support organization. They’ve recognized a significant need for services that extend beyond childhood, which is why they’re branching out to include adult programs as well.
Welcome to Unumb Place!
In fact, just earlier this year, the Unumb Center took a big step by purchasing a 10-acre property in Lexington. This new facility, aptly named Unumb Place, will house programs for adults and even provide residential services through six on-site homes. It’s such an exciting development! Renovations are already underway, with the first residents expected to move in by spring 2025.
Lorri Unumb herself expressed how pivotal this new facility is, saying, “Unumb Place represents a significant milestone for our organization. We’re creating a community where individuals with autism can thrive throughout their lives, supported by tailored programs and compassionate care.” How wonderful is that?
