Tragic Road Accident in Orangeburg County Claims Two Lives

In a tragic turn of events, a severe crash in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, claimed two lives on Monday afternoon, according to local law enforcement reports. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently in the process of investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Details of the Accident

The fatal crash reportedly occurred around 12:13 p.m. on U.S. Highway 301 at La Quinta Drive, approximately two miles north of Orangeburg. Details provided by the South Carolina Highway Patrol revealed that the vehicles involved were a 2017 Nissan Altima and a 2010 Honda Odyssey van.

The Altima, travelling southbound on the highway, collided with the Odyssey that was moving in the northbound direction. Tragically, drivers of both vehicles lost their lives at the scene of the accident. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) immediately rushed to the scene, transporting the two passengers from the sedan and the single passenger from the van to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Cause of the Accident Still Under Investigation

At this point, the factors that led to the fatal collision between the two vehicles remain unknown. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is diligently working on the investigation. As of now, there is no further information about the condition of the transported passengers, nor the identities of the deceased drivers.

Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover, who serves as a spokesperson for the Patrol, offered this comment on the tragedy: “Our deepest condolences go out to all those affected by this tragic accident. We will do everything in our power to bring clarity to this situation. This incident serves as a heartbreaking reminder to the public of the importance practicing safe driving habits.”
