South Carolina Beachgoer Struck and Killed by Police Vehicle: Officer’s Name Released

In a tragic turn of events last week, a beachgoer was killed by a Police Department vehicle on a South Carolina beach. The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) has now released the name of the officer driving the truck that struck and killed the victim. The officer has been identified as Lance Corporal Julian Brown of the Horry County Police Department (HCPD).

SCHP reported that LCpl. Julian Brown was behind the wheel when a horrific accident took place on the sandy shores of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, leading to the death of 66-year-old Sandra Schultz-Peters.

According to reports, the police truck, driven by LCpl. Brown, entered the beach from Nash Street, moving north around 1 p.m on Thursday. Within moments of entry, the vehicle tragically struck Schultz-Peters. Emergency services were immediately alerted, and the injured Schultz-Peters was speedily transported to the hospital; however, she later succumbed to her injuries.

In the wake of this terrible incident, LCpl. Julian Brown has been placed on administrative leave, pending the completion of investigations.
