Lexington, July 12, 2024: Town Theatre, set in the heart of Lexington, opens its curtains tonight to the enchanting beats of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast”. This much-anticipated musical production commences its run from July 12 to July 28, presenting theatergoers with dazzling animated artistry and unforgettable songs from the 1991 classic Disney film.

Newcomers and Veterans Take the Stage

Town Theatre, known for its rich performance history, introduces new talents while welcoming back familiar faces. Camryn Cothran and Scarlett Stone, fresh artists to the theater, share the role of Belle, the charming maiden enchanting audiences with her kindness and courage. Capturing the audience’s hearts with powerful renditions of ‘Beast’ will be veteran performer Lee Saxton and newcomer Wyatt Pittman. The pivotal character of Gaston will be presented by Ian Hazelrigg and Charlie Grant, both bringing their unique flair to Town Theatre for the first time.

Adding to the enchantment of the musical, the roles of beloved characters like Maurice, Chip, Cogsworth, and Lumiere will be adorned by Richard Fisher, Gemma Burkett, and Lacie Walko, and James Gragg and Jack Child, respectively. Significant to note is the rendering of the tightly-wound, enchanted mantle clock by Angela Adams and Liam Milhouse, expected to be a spectacle not to be missed.

Last Performance Before Temporary Retirement

While every performance at Town Theatre is special, “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” carries extra weight this season. The adored musical is temporarily retiring from licensing. After bagging the honor of being the first community theatre in South Carolina to stage this show in 2005, Town Theatre is also set to be one of the final few to wave it a fond farewell.

Transforming the Stage into an Enchanted Castle

This whimsical masterpiece of Disney is brought alive by a dynamic ensemble of 60 performers. They are skillfully guided by the visionary director, Scott Vaughan, the inspiring music director, Jane Cato, and talent-filled choreographer, Katie Page. Together they transform the stage into the Beast’s enchanted castle, promising an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages.

Kid-Friendly Musical Setting the Bar High

The setup of this kid-friendly musical not only ensures a fun-filled evening for the family but also nurtures the younger generation’s fondness for musicals and Disney’s ageless charm. This grandiose setting is the perfect opportunity to introduce young hearts to the magical world of theater, making it a must-visit for the entire family.
