Lexington’s Beloved Veteran and Electrical Contractor, Jacob Allen Shealy, Passes Away at 79

The tight-knit community of Lexington, South Carolina, mourns the loss of a much-loved member, Jacob Allen Shealy, affectionately known as Jake. Jake, a devoted family man, dedicated Electrical Contractor, and respected veteran, passed away on July 24, 2024, at the age of 79.

Remembering Jake’s Life

Jake was born on September 5, 1944, in Lexington. Throughout his life, he was devoted first and foremost to his family, cherishing every moment he spent with them. His deep love for his children, grandchildren, and siblings reflected the core of deeply rooted family values that formed the basis of his life.

Jake’s unwavering commitment to his family carried into his career as an Electrical Contractor. Jake, a pillar of dedication and excellence, spent his professional life serving at the family business, Shealy and Sons Electric. He transferred his valuable skills and deep knowledge to his sons, who also pursued careers as electrical engineers.

Service to the Nation

Apart from a thriving career, Jake was a proud veteran of the US Navy, where he served for four years. His service to the country is a testament to his commitment and sacrifice, embodying the spirit of a true patriot.

A Life Well Lived: Beyond Work and Service

Outside of his professional and service life, Jake was an avid fisherman and hunter. He found immense joy in these simple pleasures of life and often shared these passions with his loved ones. Whether it was a fishing trip or a hunting expedition, Jake’s enjoyment was amplified when surrounded by his family and friends.

Survived by a Loving Family

Jake is survived by his sons, Simon Shealy (Lisa) and Stacy Shealy (Renay); grandchildren, Ryann, Kamryn, and Brennan Shealy; brother, Jimmy Shealy (Katrina); sisters, Lynette Steele and Lisa Tyson (Joel); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Lanier and Mae Shealy, and his brother-in-law, George Steele.

Celebrating Jake’s Life

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 3:00pm at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington, with a funeral service following at 4:00pm. Burial will take place following the service in the church cemetery. All services are under the direction of Barr-Price Funeral Homes & Crematoriums, Lexington.

In memory of Jake’s significant contributions to Lexington, the Shealy family has requested for those who wish to honor Jake’s memory to consider planting a tree, or send flowers to pay their respects.

Jacob Allen Shealy’s life was one marked by service, dedication, and love. The loss of such a treasured member of the Lexington community, a dedicated family man and kind friend, is deeply felt. He will be remembered for his impressive life and his impact will be forever felt by those fortunate enough to have known him.
