Hannah Richardson Returns to Bluegrass, Signs with Lexington SC
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Hannah Richardson, the former star player for Kentucky women’s soccer team from 2019-2022, is making a much-anticipated return to Lexington to continue her professional soccer career. In an announcement by Lexington Sporting Club on Monday, Richardson has been enlisted as part of the club’s inaugural roster for the United Soccer League Super League (USL Super League). The first season of this league is scheduled to commence in August.
Richardson Looks Forward to Return
“I’m excited to be back in the city of Lexington,” Richardson shared in a news release from Lexington Sporting Club. “From playing soccer at UK and graduating from here, Lexington has always been a significant part of my life. I feel blessed to be part of this inaugural season, inspiring young girls to chase their dreams!”
Richardson’s Exceptional Career at Kentucky
During her tenure at Kentucky, Richardson displayed impressive skills and performance, recording 22 goals and 14 assists while starting in 56 of 62 total appearances. The Bartlett, Illinois native concluded her collegiate career in 2022, kick-starting all 18 matches for the Wildcats and leading the team with a career-high of nine assists, which also ranked third in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Adding to her notable stats, Richardson had two eight-goal seasons with the Wildcats and, in her freshman year, was named to the SEC All-Freshmen Team. She graduated from the University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and was a consistent achiever, being selected for the SEC Academic Honor Roll four times.
From Denmark to Lexington
Following her successful stint at the University of Kentucky, Richardson moved overseas and played for Denmark’s top-flight club, HB Koge, aiding the team to secure a third-place finish in Denmark’s Elitedivision.
As she returns to her old stomping ground in Lexington, Richardson is geared to showcase her dynamic soccer prowess on her home soil in the upcoming inaugural season of the USL Super League.
