Teen Motorcyclist Kills Lexington Man on Kyzer Road
Lexington, S.C.—A tragic accident on Kyzer Road claimed the lives of two Lexington residents late Tuesday night. A man was fatally struck by a teenage motorcyclist after retrieving mail from across the street, as confirmed by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office. Both the pedestrian and the teen motorcyclist were pronounced dead at the incident scene.
Circumstances Surrounding the Accident
The deceased pedestrian has been identified as 63-year-old Kevin Scott Collins. Reports reveal that Collins was crossing the street at the 200 block of Kyzer Road following his checking of his mailbox when the incident occurred. The 17-year-old motorcyclist involved in the collision was James Leonard Ely III, who was traveling west on the same road.
Ely, who was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, had a passenger on the motorcycle. The passenger sustained minor injuries and was promptly transported to a local hospital. The exact circumstances leading to the accident remain unclear and are currently under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP).
Motorcycle Licenses for Teens
