Lexington Man Faces Animal Cruelty Charges
In a shocking incident, five dogs were found in a Lexington home left without food or water for two weeks. The animals were found during an investigation by Lexington County Animal Services, who reported that three of the dogs had tragically died due to the neglect. The accused, 40-year old Robert John Jachim, was arrested on Tuesday. He has been charged with five counts of ill treatment of animals.
The Discovery
Lexington County Animal Services found the unfortunate animals in Jachim’s home on Corley Street. Jachim admitted to investigators that he abandoned his home on July 2nd without making any arrangements for the dogs’ care. Four of the dogs were confined in wire crates, with two found deceased. An additional small dog was discovered dead in a bedroom.
The Survivors
The two surviving dogs were in a severely emaciated condition and were subsequently transferred to Pawmetto Lifeline for immediate medical attention and care. Brittany Jones, the director of animal services, stated that the dogs were so severely starved that they refused to eat anything initially. According to Jones, Pawmetto Lifeline’s team has to assist the animals even in walking and have placed them on a strict feeding schedule.
Facing the Consequences
Jachim now faces five counts of ill-treatment of animals. He has been lodged in the Lexington County Detention Center, granted a $5,000 bond while he awaits trial.

Lexington County Animal Services is equipped with several officers and investigators and is currently working on recruiting more dedicated individuals to join their team. Cases of animal cruelty, like this one, are handled by the department’s cruelty investigators.
