Pigskin Poets: Bringing Football off the Field and onto the Stage
Contributing to the 28th annual Pigskin Poets event, the University of South Carolina football team will be shifting its focus from the field to the stage in cooperation with the Richland Library. The mission of the program is to encourage children of all ages to engage in summer reading, a habit that is vital for cognitive development and learning. The event is scheduled for Friday, July 12, from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., and will take place at the Drew Wellness Center.
First Sundays Comedy Show: A Night for Family Laughs
Next on the agenda, get prepared for a family-oriented evening filled with laughs, as the First Sundays Comedy Show makes its return this upcoming Sunday, at its new location on Diamond Lane. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and the show will commence at 6 p.m. Among those hosting the event will be comedian Akintunde, along with DJ Geechie Man providing the music. The evening promises to be filled with fun and humor, as comedians Small Fire and Tanya Lewis take the stage. And to sweeten the pot? There’ll be free wings available as well!
Ride To End Alzheimer’s: Pedal Power for a Cause
Lastly, from July 12th to the 14th, the Alzheimer’s Association of South Carolina will be hosting the 16th annual Ride To End Alzheimer’s event. The aim is to bring together over 400 cyclists who will travel across the Midlands and the Palmetto State to collect funds for Alzheimer’s research, care, and support. To date, more than $832,000 has already been raised, inching closer to the targeted goal of $1.5 million.
