It was a typical Friday morning in Irmo, South Carolina, until things took a chaotic turn at H.E. Corley Elementary School. In an unexpected twist, four individuals became embroiled in a situation that led to an arrest, shaking up the peaceful atmosphere of the school.
At approximately 9:15 AM, a School Resource Officer (SRO) spotted a suspicious vehicle parked near the school. As he approached the car, he was hit with the unmistakable smell of marijuana. This raised a red flag, prompting the officer to take immediate action and call for backup. Talk about a moment that turned heads!
With the backup units arriving, the tension escalated. Two of the vehicle’s occupants were quickly taken into custody. However, the other two individuals decided to make a run for it! Can you imagine the scene? The school went into lockdown as police arrived, determined to address the situation head-on.
Among those detained was Javon Quattlebaum, a 22-year-old suspect who is now facing multiple charges. These charges include possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, giving false information to law enforcement, disturbing a school, and trespassing after being notified to leave. Quite the list, wouldn’t you say?
The second individual captured during the incident was a minor, who was later released to their parents. Meanwhile, the two individuals who fled the scene were chased down by multiple Richland County sheriff deputies, with the assistance of Irmo PD, but the chase didn’t end successfully as they were not able to locate them. It’s like something out of an action movie!
Fortunately, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department has reassured the local community that they believe the escaped suspects pose no further danger. They encourage anyone with information that might lead to locating these two individuals to give them a call. If you’ve seen anything or know anything, don’t hesitate! You can reach them by dialing 9-1-1 or the Richland County Sheriff’s Department at 1(800)576-3000.
This incident serves as an important reminder about the vigilance of law enforcement in keeping our schools and community safe. It’s always better to be alert, especially when it comes to our children and their safety during school hours. So, keep your eyes peeled and stay informed, Irmo!
