It’s a somber day in Richland County as we grieve the loss of Barry Dooley, who tragically passed away in his home on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Barry, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, leaves behind a legacy filled with warm memories and a love for the great outdoors.
Born and raised in Richland County, Barry was the cherished son of Nathan Herman Dooley and Lois Sease Dooley. He carried that local spirit with him always, making sure to give back to his community in wonderful ways. Barry’s indomitable spirit and positive energy touched the hearts of those around him.
Surviving Barry are his loving mother, Lois Dooley, along with his son, Justin Dooley. The bond between father and son was one that many admired, underlined by their shared hobbies and adventures outdoors. Barry was also a proud big brother to Marvin Dooley, who is married to Melissa Dooley, and he took great joy in being an uncle to Byron Dooley and Krystal Massey.
Barry was known for his love of golf, where he went by the name of “King of the Fairway” among friends; his passion for hunting brought home countless stories of adventure; and let’s not forget how he lit up a fishing trip with laughter and camaraderie. Whether he was swinging a rod on the lake or talking strategy on the golf course, Barry was always in his element—surrounded by friends and family, enjoying the beauty of nature.
His love for the outdoors wasn’t just about recreation; it was an integral part of who he was and how he connected with others. He often organized gatherings for family and friends where laughter rang freely and stories flowed like the rivers he loved to fish in. Barry’s zest for life was contagious, and he reminded us all to cherish our time spent with those we love.
As arrangements and keys are set in place for the memorial, Barry’s family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Dooley Hite Reunion Building Fund. This will help create a lasting tribute to Barry’s love for his family and his community. Anyone interested in contributing can send their donations to 113 Tri Springs Ct., Lexington, SC 29073.
Barry Dooley leaves behind a vibrant tapestry of memories, and though he may no longer walk among us, he will forever remain in our hearts.
Let’s come together as a community and celebrate Barry’s life, sharing stories and memories, as every tale spoken will keep his spirit alive. Whether it’s on the golf course, a hunting ground, or a fishing trip, let’s carry on his legacy of warmth, kindness, and the love of nature.
Rest in peace, Barry. You will be dearly missed.
