Baseball Walks Off with 6-5 Victory over Trinity (Conn.)

LEXINGTON, S.C. – The Ithaca College baseball team secured a thrilling 6-5 victory over Trinity College (Conn.) on Monday, March 11, at Lexington County Stadium. The win improved Ithaca’s record to 5-2 for the season and extended their winning streak to five consecutive games.

In a game that saw back-and-forth action from start to finish, Matt Curtis, who had a standout performance in the previous game against No. 21 Arcadia, sealed the victory with a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to bring home Colin Dunn. Dunn had entered the game as a pinch runner following a lead-off walk by Connor Pedersen and advanced into scoring position on a ground out by Louis Fabbo.

Trinity managed to score a run in each of the second through fifth innings, while Ithaca responded with single runs in the second and third innings. Ithaca took the lead with another run in the sixth and added two more in the seventh, holding a 5-4 lead. However, Trinity rallied to tie the game at 5-5 in the ninth inning before Curtis’ heroics.

The offensive spark for Ithaca came from Ethan Daddabbo, who drove in Colin Shashaty in the second inning, and Shashaty, who also brought in Curtis with a base hit in the third inning. Shashaty contributed again in the sixth inning with a run, this time on an RBI single by Ethan Rothstein. Camden Laney then delivered a crucial two-run home run in the seventh inning with Curtis on base, giving the Bombers the lead once again.

John Griffin earned the win with a strong inning of relief, while Jack Colyer put in a solid 5.0 innings as the starting pitcher. Bo Nicholson and Conor Burns also made valuable contributions out of the bullpen. Shashaty led the offensive charge with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate.

The Bombers will have a quick turnaround as they prepare to face off against No. 21 Arcadia University on Tuesday. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. first pitch.
