A Batesburg resident has been charged with attempted murder by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. Jerry William Hall, Jr., 29, stands accused of trying to kill an individual and threatening to take another’s life.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Bayonet Road following a distress call made by a neighbor. Upon arrival, law enforcement found the victim, severely battered, concealed in the woods nearby. Amid multiple charges, Hall is also accused of kidnapping.
The harsh and prolonged ordeal that unfolded over nine hours was reported by several witnesses, bringing the despicable crime to light. They described how Hall repeatedly assaulted the victim and locked them inside the house when they tried to flee. Upon their investigation, law enforcement found that the victim had been punched, kicked with steel-toed boots, and suffocated to the point of unconsciousness.
As the horrifying incident unfolded, Hall threatened to kill anyone who entered the house.
Hall had fled the scene by the time deputies arrived. However, the suspect was tracked down to a location on Buggy Road by the following day where he was detained. As of this time, Hall is in custody at Lexington County Detention Center after being denied bond by a magistrate judge.
The suspect, Jerry William Hall Jr., is facing several other charges. These include third-degree assault and battery, possession of a firearm or ammunition by someone convicted of certain crimes, and possession of methamphetamine, as per the arrest warrants issued.
