Lexington Police Seeks Public Assistance in Best Buy Shoplifting Case, Suspects Organized Gang Activity

Best Buy shoplifting incident

Lexington PD seeking Assistance with another Best Buy Shoplifting Incident

In Lexington, South Carolina, another shoplifting crime has struck the Best Buy located at 5135 Sunset Boulevard. This incident occurred on June 9, 2024, and was recently disclosed by the Lexington Police Department in a public plea for assistance from the community.

Details of the Crime

The alleged shoplifter is believed to be a female who boldly made her way to the Electronics Department and selected merchandise amounting to $380. Unchecked and without making any payment, the woman was able to exit the store, according to the police statement. She was last seen entering the passenger side of a Ford F-150 bearing South Carolina license plate 8439SJ.

Investigations reveal an Organized Gang Activity

The repeated focus on Best Buy indicates an alarming pattern. The Lexington Police Department, in their investigations, have indicated that an organized gang of criminals may be behind these incidences. These gangs are known to engage in retail theft from one or more stores, concentrating on high dollar items that can be easily resold online.

While Ulta Beauty was the preferred target of these thefts several months ago, it appears now that the gang has shifted its focus on expensive computer parts. The police department is therefore urging the public to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior or activity.

Public Plea and Contact Information

The community’s cooperation plays a vital role in curbing such crimes. Therefore, the Lexington Police Department is encouraging anyone with information about this incident or the alleged shoplifter to come forward. Detective Arrington of Lexington PD is handling the case and can be reached at 803-358-1514 or by email at tarrington@lexsc.gov. Public vigilance and collaboration can go a long way in ensuring that these criminals are brought to book and prevent further thefts in the community.
