Exciting Times for Cayce: $2.1 Million Gift to Enhance the 12,000 Year History Park!

Oh Cayce, you’re in for a treat! The city has just been blessed with a whopping $2.1 million gift from the Boyd Foundation, which is all set to bring some serious life to the Visitor’s Center at the famous 12,000 Year History Park. How cool is that? This remarkable donation will finally wrap up the construction of the center, giving both locals and visitors a stunning place to explore history and nature like never before.

A Grateful Mayor

Mayor Elise Partin couldn’t be happier about the generous gift. She expressed her gratitude by saying, “We are thankful for the gift from The Boyd Foundation to be able to build the visitor center for the 12,000 Year History Park. This park already shows archaeological proof of habitation from 12,000 years ago and is a part of the National Park Service American Battlefield Plan.”

Isn’t it fantastic to think that we’re standing on land that has seen so many stories unfold? The mayor continued, “To be able to see this vision come to fruition to protect this land and be able to tell the story of everyone who walked it is important to our city, to our county, to our state, and to our nation.” Wow, talk about hitting the nail on the head!

A Reason to Celebrate

With this funding, Cayce is gearing up for an incredible addition to the park. But wait, there’s more! The Boyd Foundation isn’t just about handing out checks; they really believe in improving lives across the Midlands. With board president George Bailey at the helm, the foundation is incredibly thrilled about this project. He highlighted that it will not only be a place for outdoor fun but will also be a big draw for tourists and a fantastic educational opportunity for children throughout the Midlands area.

What’s Next?

What should we expect next? Plans are underway to finalize the competitive bids for the construction of the new Visitor’s Center. This is just the beginning of something truly extraordinary! If all goes well, we could see work starting sooner rather than later, and we can’t wait to see how it all shapes up!
