Cayce, SC, has been bustling with activity this week, especially after a recent incident that could have turned out quite serious. It all started earlier this week when our local officers were called out to assist one of their own in the Riverland Park neighborhood. If you recall, this area was partially evacuated just last weekend due to flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. Fortunately, the weather is looking much better now, but it seems not everyone is minding the calm.
The police received a radio call about some suspicious individuals riding all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in the area. It was clearly a situation that needed eyes on it, and the officers from various divisions, including the Criminal Investigation Division and Patrol Division, jumped into action. Before you know it, they were on the scene, ready to get to the bottom of things!
When the officers arrived, they immediately began questioning the ATV riders to find out what was going on. And guess what? Their efforts paid off! After a thorough interrogation and a check on the equipment, the police discovered that one of the suspects had a stolen trailer attached to his pickup truck. Can you imagine that surprise?
The individual, now identified as Russell Coffey, didn’t get very far in his plans. He was promptly arrested on the spot for Possession of Stolen Property. In a community like ours, it’s always reassuring to see our police departments acting quickly to keep us safe. Russell has since been released to await his court date, but we can bet he won’t be forgetting this little run-in with the law anytime soon.
The Cayce Police Department is encouraging residents to keep their eyes peeled for any suspicious activity. If you see something that just doesn’t sit right with you, they want you to say something! It’s all about community involvement and safeguarding the neighborhoods we all love. You can easily contact the police on their non-emergency phone number at (803) 794-0456. For those living in other parts of Lexington County, the number is (803) 785-2521. And of course, if you spot something truly dangerous or an emergency unfolds, don’t hesitate! Just dial 911.
In times like these, it’s easy to forget that our community thrives on the vigilance and partnership between residents and law enforcement. So, whether you’re strolling through Boiling Springs, enjoying a sunny day at Lake Murray, or just relaxing in your backyard, always keep that watchful eye—especially given recent events!
As we move beyond the hurricane’s aftermath, let’s remember to be vigilant while also supporting each other. Whether you’re in Springdale, South Congaree, or any of our wonderful neighborhoods such as Pine Ridge, Three Fountains, or Batesburg-Leesville, your awareness and reporting can make a genuinely positive impact. This isn’t just about safety; it’s about building a stronger, trusting community where everyone can feel secure.
So let’s keep Cayce and all of Lexington County a safe haven where we can live, work, and play, free from crime and mischief. And remember, our police department is here for us; let’s show them the appreciation and respect they deserve for their hard work!
