Christmas Open House at Governor's Mansion Promises Festive Fun and Community Spirit

Christmas Cheer at the Governor’s Mansion in Columbia!

Columbia, S.C. – This holiday season, the Governor’s Mansion is bursting with festive spirit as Governor Henry McMaster and First Lady Peggy McMaster open the doors for a delightful Christmas Open House! Mark your calendars for Monday, December 9th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, and get ready for an evening full of joy and celebration!

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus!

Guests are in for a treat as they’ll be greeted by none other than Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus themselves. It’s a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy a little magic and share their wishes for the holiday season!

Singing and Sweet Treats

No holiday gathering is complete without festive tunes and tasty treats! Enjoy musical entertainment with the talented Trudy Wilson and Rhoda Paschal, who will be performing alongside the lovely harpist Cayli Boyle. And in the spirit of the season, light refreshments will be served, including steaming hot chocolate, delicious cookies, and classic candy canes. It’s a wonderful way to catch up with friends and family while indulging in sweet snacks!

A Call for Generosity

Even as the festivities unfold, the First Family encourages guests to embrace the season of giving. A collection for Pawmetto Lifeline has been organized, and visitors are kindly asked to bring along donations such as cat or dog food, litter, or toys. These can be dropped off at the entrance of the Governor’s Mansion, spreading kindness to furry friends in need.

A Holiday Wonderland

The Columbia Garden Club has been tirelessly decorating the Governor’s Mansion for Christmas since 1981, and this year is no different! The decorating began earlier this week and promises to transform the Mansion into a stunning holiday wonderland. Expect to see magnificent Christmas trees sourced from Penland Christmas Tree Farm in York, S.C., alongside beautiful poinsettias provided by the Gilbert High School Future Farmers of America.

See the Gingerbread House!

Get ready to be amazed as a charming gingerbread house, meticulously crafted to replicate Charleston’s iconic Pineapple Fountain, will be on display! Don’t miss this sweet and creative festive decoration that captures the spirit of our beloved city!

Regular Docent-Guided Tours

But the fun doesn’t stop there! For those who want a closer look at the Mansion’s stunning decorations, regular docent-guided Christmas tours are available on December 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, and 19 at 10:00, 10:30, and 11:00 AM. While these tours are free of charge, reservations are required, so be sure to call 803-737-1710 or book online at scgovernorsmansion.org to secure your spot!

A Heartfelt Invitation
