Clarios, a globally acclaimed advanced battery solutions manufacturer, has announced its new plans to expand operations within Oconee County, South Carolina. The firm has projected an investment of approximately $16 million for this expansion, looking towards generating an additional workforce of 12 people.
South Carolina’s Governor Henry McMaster expressed his delight regarding Clarios’s expansion in the state. According to him, the firm’s investment and the potential job creation offer increased opportunities for Oconee County. It also underscores South Carolina’s status as a region where businesses can flourish.
The planned expansion will fill up approximately 9,000 square feet and will incorporate infrastructure enhancements, including state-of-the-art molding and assembly gear to upsurge advanced batteries’ production. This expansion will take place at Clarios’ plant located at 1204 Old Walhalla Highway in West Union.
Based in Glendale, Wisconsin, Clarios is a prominent battery manufacturer and annually produces over 150 million advanced, low-voltage batteries for the mobility industry. The expansion in South Carolina is a critical step towards meeting the evolving market demands with advanced energy, Focusing on the future of transportation.
Clarios President of U.S. and Canada, Gerardo Gonzelez-Aleu, expressed excitement for the expansion in Oconee County. He noted that the components manufactured at the facility are pivotal for transport’s future, with the decision to inflate production here reflecting this workforce’s exemplary quality.
One of the 16 U.S operations, the facility in Oconee County, manufactures component parts for Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) batteries that are pivotal for the new automotive technologies’ usage.
Oconee Economic Alliance President Jamie Gilbert acknowledged Clarios’ commitment to enhancing their West Union operation. He also mentioned that Clarios is one of Oconee’s leading manufacturers, and its expansion represents the superior business climate and manufacturing workforce in their community.
Senate President Thomas C. Alexander mentioned that Clarios has been an excellent neighbor and corporate citizen in Oconee County. He appreciates the decision to reaffirm their commitment to Oconee and South Carolina through a multimillion-dollar expansion herein. With Clarios’ expansion, Oconee County, indeed, promises to be an exemplary place to live and work. Operations are expected to commence online in January 2025.
