Thrills and Shocks Dominate Week 3 College Football: Georgia Edges Out Kentucky, LSU Makes Spectacular Comeback, Missouri Triumphs and Memphis, Toledo Stun Opponents

Thrills and Shocks Define Week 3 of College Football

Georgia Outlasts Kentucky

In a riveting showdown, No. 1 Georgia narrowly escaped unranked Kentucky with a 13-12 win. Despite Kentucky leading into the fourth quarter, Georgia seized victory on the back of a 3-yard touchdown run by Branson Robinson. However, the triumph of victory was hard-won with a last-minute fumble recovery thwarting Kentucky’s chances at a final quarter victory.

LSU’s Spectacular Comeback

No. 16 LSU showed resilient character as they overturned a 17-point deficit to win against South Carolina, 36-33. Despite staring down the barrel after the first quarter, the Tigers clawed back to victory, scoring back-to-back touchdowns after the break. Garrett Nussmeier’s 55-yard scoring drive helped LSU regain the deciding lead.

Mizzou Triumphs Against Boston College

Despite a rocky start, No. 6 Missouri showcased their mettle against No. 24 Boston College, claiming victory with a clear-tail margin of 27-21. After the early onslaught by Boston College, Mizzou returned with 24 unanswered points taking a decisive 27-14 lead. Luther Burden’s strong performance helped Mizzou over the line, stymying Boston College’s last-ditch comeback effort.

Memphis Stuns FSU

Memphis delivered a shocking win against Florida State at Doak Campbell Stadium with a decisive 20-12 victory. Dominating from the onset, the Tigers capitalized on early mistakes, catching the Seminoles on the backfoot for the whole game. The Seminoles could never play catch up, their first touchdown coming too little too late in the fourth quarter. Memphis delivered an efficient performance, worthy of a top-ranked team.

Toledo’s Astounding Turnover Against Mississippi State

Toledo delivered the surprise of the week, thrashing Mississippi State 41-17, piling more than 450 total yards of offense. Toledo proved their formidable mettle from the first whistle, scoring on three of their first few drives, taking an unsurmountable 28-3 lead by halftime. They never let go off the victory, cruising to victory through relentless defensive pressure and efficient attacking. The stunning victory marked the MAC’s first win against an SEC opponent since 2015.
