College Golf Fellowship Visits Lexington, Inspires Local College Athletes
Last weekend, College Golf Fellowship made a stop in Lexington, bringing together college athletes from various local colleges such as Francis Marion, Furman, Coastal Carolina, Augusta University, and the University of South Carolina. College Golf Fellowship, a sibling of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, aims to educate young men and women on the Christian faith. With over 20 staff nationwide, CGF works closely with college golfers, coaches, and professional golfers to instill biblical principles and values.
Hosting and Community Outreach
The event in Lexington was hosted by Wesley and Elizabeth Bryan, with Wesley Bryan, a Dutch Fork High School and University of South Carolina graduate, coaching youth during the program. The college athletes had the opportunity to visit a local government housing community, where they introduced golf to children using SNAG Golf equipment donated by the SCJGA. This act of community outreach allowed the young athletes to connect with the local community and give back in a meaningful way.
Inspiring Talks and Activities
Throughout the weekend, the theme of the event was centered around the question “Who is Jesus and why does it matter?” College athletes had the chance to hear from PGA Tour players like Ben Martin, who emphasized the importance of faith and a deeper meaning to life beyond just scoring birdies on the golf course.
Aside from the spiritual aspects, the athletes engaged in various recreational activities, including flag football, basketball, ping-pong, and baseball.
