Columbia Welcomes New Leadership and Celebrates Achievements

In Columbia, exciting changes and celebrations are in the air! The recent board meeting of Homeless No More saw the induction of a brand new executive committee and board members. Leading the charge is board chair Marti Bluestein, who is set to guide the organization’s mission. Also taking on significant roles are Frank W. Cason as vice chair, returning secretary Kimberly Snipes, and treasurer David M. Kirkpatrick Jr.. Meanwhile, on the children’s welfare front, Kendra Faile has been named the new chief operating officer, and Lauren Tinman is stepping in as chief strategy officer at Epworth Children’s Home. Historic Columbia has recently been honored with the prestigious Trustees’ Award for Organizational Excellence by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Culinary Celebrations Ahead

On the culinary scene, the Greater Columbia Chapter of the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association (SCRLA) is gearing up for their annual Columbia Restaurant Hall of Fame and Benefit Dinner. Scheduled for Monday, November 25, this exciting event will take place at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. This year, restaurateurs Carmella and Joe Roche, creators of the delicious Villa Tronco, will receive the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. Joining them in the Hall of Fame this year are icons such as Steve Cook from Saluda’s Restaurant, Larry Chandler of Firehouse Subs, and Mark Price from Mill Pond Steakhouse. The Honorable Judge DeAndrea Gist Benjamin, along with Deputy Solicitor Ashley Hammack from the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office and Assistant Deputy Attorney General Kinli Abee, have been bestowed with the Ernest F. Hollings Award. This prestigious accolade honors their exemplary contributions to the criminal justice system. Also noteworthy is Judge Benjamin’s receipt of the Alumni Professional Achievement Award from Winthrop University, celebrating her influential work in the community and beyond.

Moreover, the Marwin Company has made waves by earning the South Carolina Business Partner Award from the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Association (SCVRA).
