Columbia's Arts & Draughts Set to Dazzle with Art, Music, and Culinary Delights This Friday

Columbia Gears Up for a Spectacular Night of Art and Fun!

Hey there, Columbia! Get ready to shake off the week and dive into a vibrant evening of creativity and entertainment this Friday, November 8th. From 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., the Columbia Museum of Art will transform into a canvas of excitement as it hosts its beloved event, Arts & Draughts. This is your chance to mingle, marvel, and maybe even boogie a bit!

What to Expect

This year is extra special because the museum features the captivating exhibition, French Moderns. Imagine a night filled with art and culture—how delightful! As Wilson Bame, the CMA Associate Director of Engagement, says, “This fall we’re lucky enough to have French Moderns in the galleries. Much like the exhibition, we’re excited to offer a broad array of artistic fun for the night.” Could that sound any better?

How about this? A roving puppeteer will bring some extraordinary abstract moving sculptures to life right on stage! And if that’s not enough to tickle your fancy, we’ve got live tunes from awesome bands like Darby Wilcox, who’ll dazzle you with her soulful tunes, along with Charleston’s Orange Doors unleashing some psychedelic grunge. Plus, local favorites, Slow Funeral will rock the scene with their alt-rock vibes. Wow, what a lineup!

Dance, Eat, and Enjoy

And don’t you worry about busting a move without the right music. Folk Tech will be spinning those tracks on the first floor while those feeling a bit more adventurous can groove at the silent disco on the second floor. Close your eyes, put on those headphones, and get lost in the rhythm—how fun does that sound?

Let’s make sure your tummy’s happy too! Delicious food will be up for grabs with options from La Dolce Vita Pizza, Peace of Soul Vegan Kitchen, and Farmers Market Xchange. Bring your appetite and dive into some of Columbia’s finest eats as you feast your eyes on all the artistic festivities around you.

Tickets and Volunteering

Now, you might be wondering, “How do I get in on this?” Well, grab your wallet because tickets are just $15 a pop, and $8 for museum members. But here’s a nifty little tip: if you want free entry, consider volunteering for a short shift! Talk about getting the best of both worlds, right?

Weather Roulette

Now, before you head out, a quick heads-up about the weather: it looks a little cloudy with a high of 74°F and a 60% chance of rain, so maybe keep a light jacket handy! Looks like there will be occasional rain showers occurring late at night with a low of around 66°F. Let’s hope the weather plays nice and doesn’t dampen our night of artistic revelry!

Don’t Miss Out!

With an array of breathtaking performances, scrumptious food, and, of course, stunning art, this year’s Arts & Draughts promises to be a memorable night that you won’t want to miss. Grab your friends, bring your family, or even meet some new pals; it’s going to be a joyous celebration of creativity and community.

So mark your calendars, gather your crew, and head on over to the Columbia Museum of Art this Friday night. Can’t wait to see you there soaking in all the art, laughter, and fun! Grab a baguette, sip on something delightful, and let the night unfold in classic Columbia style!
