If approved, this waiver would allow DSS to automatically issue federal food replacement benefits to SNAP recipients living in counties where at least 50% of the population endured a power outage lasting more than four hours. This is in accordance with federal guidelines aimed at providing timely support to those affected by unexpected circumstances.
The replacement benefits amount will depend on when each household typically receives their monthly SNAP issuance. This means that families can expect to receive assistance without needing to take extra steps, which is definitely a relief for many!
