Hey there, Columbia! As the days get colder and the spirit of the season starts to creep in, it’s time to think about spreading some holiday joy to kids in need. This year, the U.S. Marine Corps is rolling out their annual Toys for Tots campaign, and they need your help to make this Christmas a memorable one for less fortunate children.
Let’s face it – nothing brings a smile to a child’s face like unwrapping a brand new toy on Christmas morning. That’s why the Marines are teaming up with the fantastic folks at Ollie’s Bargain Toys to collect toys all over our great city. You can drop off an unwrapped toy at any of their donation boxes located at all Ollie’s sites. So, while you’re doing your shopping, why not grab an extra toy or two for those little ones who might not be as lucky as others?
Major Jay White from Company F, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, stopped by to chat about this important drive. He shared that they do receive a good number of toys for young boys, which is fantastic! However, they are really in desperate need of gifts specifically for girls aged 8 to 11 years old. So if you’re racking your brain about what to donate, consider picking up a fun game, a craft set, or maybe even a cozy stuffed animal that could help bring some joy this holiday season!
If you’re looking to get involved, it’s super easy! Just gather up some new toys that are still in their original packaging and head to your nearest Ollie’s location. Donations can be made until December 24th, so there’s plenty of time to spread the cheer. Remember, every little bit helps and every toy counts!
The Toys for Tots program has been a beloved holiday tradition for many years now. It aims to deliver a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters and to assist them in becoming responsible, productive, and patriotic citizens. What better way to embody the holiday spirit than by giving back to the community and ensuring that every child has a gift to open on Christmas morning?
So, Columbia, let’s come together and make this holiday season a heartwarming reminder of the power of generosity and community spirit. Your donations can make a huge difference in the lives of children in our area who may not have a lot to celebrate this Christmas. Imagine the joy you’ll feel knowing you helped bring a smile to a kid’s face!
Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, teacher, or just someone who wants to help spread some love and kindness, make sure to tell your friends, family, and colleagues about the drive! The more people who get involved, the more toys will be collected, and ultimately, the more children will benefit from this wonderful initiative.
Let’s make some holiday magic happen in Columbia this year. With your help, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience the joy of Christmas. We can’t wait to see the community come together – it’s what this time of year is all about!
Happy Holidays!
