This year’s ambassadors bring a rich tapestry of experience and passion for Columbia. They are: James Agens, owner of Terracotta Nursery and vice president of SC Pride; Aditi Bussells, a Councilwoman at-Large for the City of Columbia; Trahern Cook, who dazzles as an artist and live painter known as Easel Cathedral; and Michaela Leung, a digital journalist, Pilates instructor, and curator of All is Well.
Each ambassador possesses unique insights into the city, making them ideal representatives to provide visitors with a local perspective on all things Columbia. This initiative has been running for seven years, creating a dynamic link between residents and visitors eager to explore the charm of this southern gem.
As part of the festivities, the 2025 Columbia SC Insider’s Guide was also released. This comprehensive guide is available at the Columbia SC Visitors Center and online for those planning visits. It’s packed with recommendations, local attractions, and insider tips that help make any trip to Columbia truly memorable.
According to the marketing and communications team, the role of these ambassadors goes beyond merely offering directions. They play a crucial part in cultivating pride in the city, enabling locals to share their love for Columbia with the world. Previous ambassadors like Shanika Pichey, Anthony Goldman, Lynn Luc, and Mark Rapp have all made significant contributions to Columbia’s cultural landscape, sparking interest and enthusiasm like never before!
But just as the city celebrates the excitement of new ambassadors, a winter storm is knocking at the door. The South Carolina weather has put a bit of a damper on the festivities, with a forecast predicting dangerous conditions rolling in next week.
