First up on our list is the School of Medicine and Research building at USC, which is set to kick off construction as soon as 2025. If all goes according to plan, this fantastic new facility should be ready to welcome students by 2027! It’s a massive 300,000-square-foot hub expected to be a center for innovation and clinical experience, making it a terrific addition to our educational landscape.

Meanwhile, the former Richland Mall site is getting a makeover, thanks to a substantial $3 million investment from city officials and legislators. The first phase is anticipated to wrap up by 2028, with an exciting second phase planned for 2033. This redevelopment is sure to breathe new life into the area!

Dining Delights

Foodies, you’re in for a treat! The buzz around dining openings is reaching a fever pitch. Drake’s Duck-In will soon be back in action at its revamped location on Main Street, though they’ve posted a charming sign reminding us that they’re “so close, but not yet!”

And if you’re a wine lover, you can look forward to Molto Vino, a boutique semi-private wine bar opening its doors at 514 E Main St. in Lexington in 2024! It will be offering a delightful selection of 32 wines on tap, so cheers to that!

BBQ fans won’t want to miss Mission BBQ, coming soon to 275 Harbison Blvd.. They’ve promised a mouthwatering, patriotic-themed menu, and while we don’t have an opening date just yet, it’s certainly something to look forward to!

Sweet tooth? Scoop of Heaven Homemade Ice Cream is making its way to Elgin at 565 Spears Creek Church Rd. in Spring 2024, and there’s more! Slim Chickens is set to serve up casual chicken dishes at 2089 N Beltline Blvd. also this Spring.

And if tacos are more your thing, Tacos Nayarit, rated as one of the best taco spots in the state, is opening a second location at 1100 Knox Abbott Dr.. Delicious!

Unique Experiences

Columbia is not just getting new restaurants! PickleGarden on the River, a pickleball facility combined with a micro-restaurant food lot, is scheduled to open in late 2024 at 680 Candi Ln.. It promises to be a fun new spot for our community! And let’s not overlook The Flip Factory, offering a range of indoor entertainment attractions, expected to open its doors by late 2024 as well.

For those fitness enthusiasts, a new Pvolve studio, a trendy fitness franchise, will be launching at Bennett at BullStreet come May 2024, bringing a refreshing twist to workout routines!
