The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announced that the eastbound off-ramp to Bush River Road on Interstate 26 would be permanently closed as of 9 p.m. Due to this change, drivers looking to enter Bush River Road will now have to use the newly opened Colonial Life ramp on I-126 eastbound instead.

For those heading from Bush River Road to I-26 eastbound toward Charleston, don’t fret—simply follow the signs to Colonial Life Boulevard and continue on from there. As for those heading toward Spartanburg on I-26 westbound, the new ramp will allow you to access the route with a little twist in your journey.

The Irmo Fire District chimed in with a humorous commentary on social media regarding the inevitable traffic jam that occurred Thursday morning near the now-defunct Exit 108. Their amusing quip also highlighted a new phrase they coined, “mixed reactions,” which encapsulates the blend of confusion and adaptability that comes with road changes.
