Morning Showers to Cool Things Down

The morning is kicking off with some cloudy skies, and we can anticipate rain falling steadily. We’re looking at a morning high of 67°F, but don’t be fooled; temperatures will dip quickly as the day goes on. By afternoon, we could be close to 45°F as the winds pick up from the west-southwest at 15 to 25 mph. Talk about a wild ride, huh?

So, if you find yourself outside before noon, prepare for moderate showers with totals around a quarter of an inch of rain. There’s even a chance for some areas to experience locally heavy rainfall. Let’s be honest; it’s not the best day to be out and about!

Evening Clears Up but Gets Chilly

Once the rain wraps up, the sky will clear up nicely in the evening, giving us a chance to dry off. Temperatures will decline and drop to a chilly 32°F overnight. So, if you plan on being out again later, don’t forget to bundle up! Winds will calm down a bit, falling to around 5 to 10 mph, making those clear skies feel a little more bearable.

Water System Improvement Project Underway!

17,000 feet of 16-inch ductile-iron pipe is being laid along North Trenholm Road and Decker Boulevard to Forest Drive. Exciting stuff, right?

What’s the Plan?

The purpose? To enhance the quality and functionality of the Columbia Water system, particularly in the Forest Acres area. More specifically, this project aims to boost water pressure, which we can all agree sounds pretty fantastic!

Benjamin Wildt, the utilities communications manager for Columbia, mentioned that they’re aiming to complete this project within a year. To speed things up, the city has brought in two contractors, and you might spot them working in multiple crews at the same time. Wildt recommends keeping an eye on traffic signs and, if you can, seek an alternative route during this time. It’s all about safety, folks!
