Discover Unique Treasures at the Midlands Artisans Market in Columbia, S.C.

Columbia, S.C. is bursting with creativity and local talent, especially during the Midlands Artisans Market held at the beautiful Sesquicentennial State Park! This bustling event offers an incredible array of handmade goods that are perfect for holiday shopping or just treating yourself. From artisan crafts to delectable treats, you’re bound to find something special that captures your heart.

Handcrafted Goods with a Story

As you stroll through the market, every tent seems to tell a story, and the passion of the vendors shines through. One such vendor is Paul Haynes, who, alongside his wife Susan, has created a niche for their business, Cross and Nail Leathers. Their booth features a delightful selection of custom wallets that are not only functional but also possess a unique flair.

“The process is cutting these out, most of them are by hand,” Paul shared enthusiastically. “Some of them have dyes, and I use the heavy-duty stitching because that’s usually where a wallet’s gonna break down.” With their five-year-old business already making waves, Paul mentioned they are taking orders for Christmas gifts already. “The sooner, the better because it takes time to cut it out and hand stitch it,” he said with a smile.

Self-Care on Display!

Another exciting newcomer at the market was Swank on Ya, a self-care boutique owned by the lovely Valerie Traylor. Having moved to South Carolina just over a year ago, she quickly dove into the handmade business world.

Valerie was thrilled to introduce her unique self-care products to shoppers at the market. “Magnesium using it topically is something that can help, and I make that product by hand,” she said proudly. With so many vendors promoting self-care, it’s impossible to leave without feeling inspired to take care of yourself—or someone else!

The Joy of Supporting Local

The atmosphere at the Midlands Artisans Market was buzzing with excitement as shoppers like Nakia Roberson expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to support local vendors. Nakia emphasized how amazing it is to witness customers connecting with the vendors’ artwork. “It’s usually really good to have that feeling because you know somebody’s gonna come and buy it, and most of the time, they come back and get it from you so it can be a Christmas gift,” she noted. “It’s a phenomenal feeling to have your stuff displayed in somebody else’s house.” Each sale not only boosts the vendors’ spirits but also fosters a deeper sense of community in Columbia.

A Community Gathering by Artisans

The Midlands Artisans Market isn’t just a shopping event; it’s a delightful gathering where community members come together to celebrate creativity and artistry. Whether you’re in the market for handcrafted jewelry, unique home decor, or something sweet to nibble on, there’s something for everyone. Plus, supporting local artisans helps to strengthen the community, ensuring that Columbia remains a vibrant hub of art and culture.

So, if you’re in the Columbia area or planning a visit, make sure to stop by the next Midlands Artisans Market! You’ll leave with not just fabulous finds but also a heart full of local joy and creativity. Look forward to discovering treasures that tell a story and perhaps even take part in the creative journey of these talented artisans. Happy shopping!
