Four-star Forward EJ Walker Commits to South Carolina Gamecocks

In a thrilling turn of events, EJ Walker, the class of 2025 four-star forward, has announced his commitment to the South Carolina Gamecocks. EJ Walker, from Erlanger, Kentucky, and studying at Lloyd, announced his decision in an official ceremony at his school, ending the suspense that had been building up in the sports world.

Gamecocks Beat Big 10 Powers

Walker’s commitment marks a significant triumph for the Gamecocks. Their victory over Big 10 powers, including Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Purdue, demonstrates their top-drawer recruiting strategy in the basketball world. South Carolina’s remarkable win also came over various other major basketball schools which had extended their offers to Walker, including Dayton, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Texas A&M, and Xavier.

A Strong Connection with Head Coach Lamont Paris

In the wake of this announcement, Walker highlighted the vital role played by head coach, Lamont Paris, in steering his decision. The four-star forward remarked that his relationship with Coach Paris had a significant impact on his choice. “I have a great relationship with Coach Paris. Building that relationship with him was really fun,” Walker said in an interview.

Walker further complimented the rest of the coaching team for their enduring support and stated, “They were great to be around.” He is confident that his skills will be utilized to the fullest given the team’s focus on versatility.

The Charm of South Carolina

Walker praised the campus of South Carolina and spoke positively of his visit in late March. He found the Five Points area particularly attracting with its various shops. His commitment will lead to enhancing the team’s strength as he brings in strong passing skills and can guard multiple positions efficiently.

A Strong Trio for the Gamecocks

South Carolina has demonstrated their prowess in securing the best recruits with Walker being the third player to join the South Carolina basketball recruiting class of 2025. Hayden Assemian and Eli Ellis preceded him, with Assemian being the first one to commit to the Gamecocks on Sept. 26, and Ellis joining a few months later.

Due to these commitments, South Carolina has leaped to the top spot in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings, being the only school in the country with three commitments for the 2025 recruiting class.

Pending the official signing, Walker is poised to make a significant impact on the team’s performance and boost its profile in the national and global basketball arenas. His commit signals a bright future for the Gamecocks, securing their position in the sport for the upcoming seasons.
