Exciting New Beginnings for Blossom Shop and EQ Fitness in Columbia!

Columbia, a city known for its vibrant community spirit, just got a little bit brighter! Two beloved businesses have made a fresh start on Gervais Street. Blossom Shop, a floral wonderland that’s been around since the late 1940s, and EQ Fitness & Physical Therapy, a buzzing hub for health enthusiasts, have officially opened their doors at 1815 Gervais St.. This marks an exciting new chapter for both establishments!

Grand Openings Bring Community Together

On a beautiful Tuesday, the air was thick with anticipation as community and city officials, including Mayor Daniel Rickenmann, gathered to celebrate the grand openings. “It’s not just a move; it’s a celebration of community,” Rickenmann said, highlighting how special it is to see a blend of history and innovation in one place.

From Five Points to Gervais Street

Blossom Shop, previously located at 2001 Devine St. in Five Points, made the switch to their new sunny home at Gervais Street. Co-owner Cubby Culbertson shared some insights about the move: “Gervais Street has been huge for us. While we were sad to leave Five Points, parking was a nightmare, and the space felt old and worn out. Here, we have high ceilings, lots of natural light, and just a fantastic vibe.”

Let’s be honest—everyone loves a good “wow” factor, right? And from the looks of it, Culbertson and his team are thrilled with the feedback: “Our customers have been raving about the new space!”

The Perfect Spot for EQ Fitness

Meanwhile, EQ Fitness & Physical Therapy, which previously resided near the bustling Devine Street, is equally excited about their new digs. Co-owner Wesley Newsom expressed just how vital this move is for the business: “It means everything for our growth and for our clients’ convenience. They can now zip right in from Forest Acres or West Columbia, and we have more amenities to offer, like showers and extra room for workouts.”

More room means more people can focus on their fitness, and Newsom couldn’t be happier: “We loved Devine Street, but let’s face it, we outgrew that space pretty quickly.”

A Historic Building, A New Life

The building at 1815 Gervais St. has seen its fair share of changes since it was constructed in 1954. Originally used mostly for office space, it has undergone a complete renovation to cater to these two dynamic businesses. With roughly 30,000 cars passing by each day, this high-traffic area is sure to bring a new life to both Blossom Shop and EQ Fitness.

A Mix of Legacy and Newcomers

The contrast between Blossom Shop’s decades of history and EQ Fitness’s fresh, modern approach reflects the rich tapestry of Columbia’s business scene. Mayor Rickenmann aptly noted, “We’re lucky to have businesses that have been here for 100 years alongside those that have just opened. This balance is crucial for our community.”

Looking Forward

As these beloved businesses settle into their new locations, the excitement in Columbia is palpable. Whether you’re in the mood for stunning floral arrangements or ready to hit the gym, Gervais Street is officially the place to be! Here’s to new beginnings that blend the best of the old and the new!
