Sponsor Our ArticlesColumbia is thrilled to welcome Chick-fil-A and Knowledge Perk Coffee Company as part of the new Gateway 737 development. Located near the University of South Carolina, this project will offer 940-bed student housing and retail spaces. Scheduled to open in August 2025, students will enjoy convenient dining options and amenities that enhance their campus experience, including a pool and fitness center. The partnership aims to provide dynamic living spaces tailored to modern student needs, making it an exciting development for the community.
Columbia is buzzing with excitement as two beloved eateries, Chick-fil-A and Knowledge Perk Coffee Company, are set to open their doors in the new Gateway 737 student housing development! This eagerly awaited project is under construction just a stone’s throw away from the University of South Carolina’s basketball arena, specifically at the corner of Greene and Gadsden streets. If you’re a fan of chicken sandwiches, nuggets, or a cozy coffee vibe, you’ll definitely want to keep an eye on this!
Gateway 737 is not just your typical housing project. It’s a vibrant community designed for students, boasting an impressive 940-bed student housing community. This development is the brainchild of Holder Properties and the University of South Carolina Development Foundation. Their goal? To create a space that truly meets the needs of modern students.
Alongside the 940-bed housing, Gateway 737 will also offer 42,000 square feet of student meeting space and about 12,000 square feet dedicated to retail and restaurant space. Sounds perfect for socializing, studying, or just grabbing a bite with friends!
And if you think that’s all, think again! This development will boast a sparkling pool and a state-of-the-art fitness center. It’s shaping up to be the ultimate destination for students craving convenience, fun, and community — not to mention, it’s just steps away from the Colonial Life Arena.
Food lovers, rejoice! Chick-fil-A is joining the Gateway family! This fast-food favorite is known for its delicious chicken sandwiches, juicy nuggets, and irresistible waffle fries. With over a dozen locations scattered throughout the Midlands area, fans are going to love having another Chick-fil-A option so close to campus. Plus, it’s worth noting that there’s already a Chick-fil-A location in USC’s on-campus Russell House, but now students will have even more options!
And let’s not forget about coffee! Knowledge Perk is a growing star in the South Carolina coffee scene. Known for its cozy atmosphere and quality brews, this coffee company has established locations in Columbia, Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Myrtle Beach, and Spartanburg. The first Knowledge Perk outlet in Columbia opened in May 2023 at the historical W.B. Smith Whaley House on Gervais Street, and students will surely welcome this new location with open arms!
Mark your calendars! The grand opening of Gateway 737, with Chick-fil-A and Knowledge Perk, is scheduled for August 2025. That may seem a little way off, but with the architectural work already underway, it’s no time to steer clear of the excitement building in the Columbia area!
It’s interesting to note that Holder Properties and the USC Development Foundation previously teamed up on the successful 650 Lincoln development along Lincoln Street. This earlier project also featured student housing complemented by national brand restaurants, proving that these two developers know how to create spaces that students will love!
In summary, Columbia is gearing up for an extraordinary addition with the Gateway 737 Development. From the popular Chick-fil-A to the charming Knowledge Perk Coffee Company, students will soon have fantastic choices just moments from where they live and study. It’s clear that both food and community are getting the spotlight they deserve in this part of town!
