Lexington, Ky. – Home of the Bluegrass, the city of Lexington witnesses the return of star player Hannah Richardson to its soccer field, this time sculpting her professional career. The Kentucky women’s soccer champion from 2019 to 2022, Richardson has confirmed to be part of the Lexington Sporting Club’s inaugural season roster for the USL Super League. The excitement of the city peaks as the league is scheduled to commence this August.
Richardson expressed her sheer excitements towards this new journey in a press release by Lexington SC. She said, “I’m excited to be back in the city of Lexington. From playing soccer at UK and graduating here, Lexington has always meant a lot to me. I feel blessed to be apart of this inaugural season and paving the way for young girls to be inspired to chase their dreams!”
During her tenure at Kentucky, Richardson exhibited extraordinary performance amassing 22 goals and 14 assists, starting in 56 of 62 total appearances for her alma mater. The ace forward from Bartlett, Illinois, rounded-off her collegiate soccer career in 2022, starting all 18 matches for the Wildcats and leading the team with nine assists. This career-high mark positioned her third in the Southeastern Conference.
Richardson’s prowess was apparent from her fresher year as she was named to the SEC All-Freshmen Team after making eight goals in the season. She repeated this high score in another one of her seasons with the Wildcats. Balancing academics and sports diligently, Richardson earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University and was a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection.
The Lexington soccer star kick-started her professional career with HB Koge, a top-tier club in Denmark. Her contribution led the team to secure the third position in Denmark’s Elitedivision. With her latest signing with Lexington SC for the forthcoming USL Super League, Richardson is all set to raise the bar of professional women’s soccer in Lexington and inspire future talents.
