In an exciting turn of events for Lexington sports enthusiasts and soccer fans alike, Hannah Richardson, a prominent UK Women’s soccer alumni is making a much-awaited return to Lexington. In a recent announcement by Lexington Sporting Club, it has been confirmed that Richardson has been signed to their pioneering USL Super League roster, which is anticipated to kick off its opening season in August.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Richardson stated, “I’m excited to be back in the city of Lexington. From playing soccer at the UK and graduating here, Lexington has always meant a lot to me. I feel blessed to be a part of this inaugural season and paving the way for young girls to be inspired to chase their dreams!”
During her illustrious tenure of four years at Kentucky, Richardson accrued a total of 22 goals and 14 assists, starting in 56 of the 62 total appearances. The Bartlett, Illinois native called it a wrap on her college career in 2022, starting all 18 matches for the Wildcats, leading the collective with her career-high tally of none assistances. This feat placed her third in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Truly a gem for the team, Richardson proved her mettle with two, eight-goal seasons during her time with the Wildcats. Her debut year saw her being designated to the SEC All-Freshmen Team. She graduated from the University with a degree in communication, earning a place in the SEC Academic Honor Roll not less than four times.
After wrapping up her stint with the UK Women’s Soccer, Richardson joined HB Koge, a top-flight club in Denmark. Her impressive abilities helped propel the team to clinch third place in Denmark’s Elitedivision. Always a source of inspiration for young female athletes, Richardson continues to demonstrate that with determination, hard work, and sheer talent, success is but inevitable.
As Richardson returns to Lexington SC to foster her professional soccer career, the excitement and anticipation surrounding her is palpable. With her proven track record, Richardson is sure to invigorate the team and contribute significantly to its ensuing seasons.
