Female soccer player returning
Lexington, Ky. – A tumultuous wave of exhilaration sweeps across the Bluegrass as Hannah Richardson, a prominent figure in Kentucky women’s soccer, announces her return to Lexington. She has signed a deal with Lexington Sporting Club, significantly boosting anticipation for the club’s maiden USL Super League season starting this August.
The Illinois native expressed her joy on coming back to Lexington in an interview. She feels “blessed to be a part of this inaugural season and paving the way for young girls to be inspired to chase their dreams!” Richardson has a strong connection to the city, having played college soccer at the University of Kentucky and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in communication from the institution.
Hannah Richardson’s return to Lexington is not just a homecoming; it marks the arrival of a veritable powerhouse on the field. Her college career, spanning 2019 to 2022, is laden with groundbreaking achievements. With 56 starts in 62 appearances, Richardson successfully netted 22 goals and created 14 assists. Her freshman year was particularly laudable, having managed eight goals and securing a place on the SEC All-Freshmen Team.
In addition to her physical prowess on the pitch, Richardson has shown a strong commitment to academics. As a four-time eligible for the SEC Academic Honor Roll, her tenacity extends beyond just athletic goals. Within her four-year spell at Kentucky, she was an ardent student, completing her degree in communication.
Following her graduation, Richardson took her talents to Denmark’s top-flight club, HB Koge. Throughout her season with the club, she played a pivotal role in placing them third in Denmark’s challenging Elitedivision league.
Richardson’s signing is poised to play a vital role in enhancing the Lexington SC roster for the club’s first-ever season in the USL Super League. It will be fascinating to see how much of an impact her return to Lexington brings to the city, the team, and its fans.
