Hannah Richardson Returns to Bluegrass, Signs with Lexington SC
Star Forward Joins Lexington Sporting Club’s Inaugural USL Super League Roster
Lexington, KY – Exciting news for soccer fans in Lexington, Kentucky as exceptional forward Hannah Richardson, a key player for the University of Kentucky Women’s Soccer team from 2019 to 2022, is returning home to extend her professional career. Lexington Sporting Club (SC) announced on Monday that Richardson has joined its inaugural USL Super League roster for the upcoming season, which kicks off this August.
“I’m excited to be back in the city of Lexington,” Richardson said via a Lexington SC news release. “From playing soccer at UK and graduating here, Lexington has always meant a lot to me. I feel blessed to be apart of this inaugural season and paving the way for young girls to be inspired to chase their dreams!”
Prolific Collegiate Career
During her impressive four-year tenure at Kentucky, Richardson tallied 22 goals and 14 assists, starting in 56 of her total 62 appearances. The Bartlett, Illinois native wrapped up her collegiate soccer career in 2022 starting every one of the 18 matches for the Wildcats. Her nine assists during the season were the highest of her career and secured her the third place in the Southeastern Conference.
Richardson boasted two eight-goal seasons in her time with the Wildcats, securing her place on the SEC All-Freshmen Team in her first year. She graduated from the University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and was a deserving recipient of the SEC Academic Honor Roll selection four times.
Firm Footing in Professional Soccer
After college, Richardson took her skills overseas, playing for HB Koge, a club in the Denmark’s top-flight league. Her contribution was instrumental in leading the team to a third-place finish in Denmark’s Elitedivisionen. Now with her signing to Lexington SC, the city eagerly anticipates watching Richardson in action on home soil.
