Exciting Developments in Cayce: Hattie’s Crossing Unveiled!

Hey there, Cayce! This afternoon, the community banded together to celebrate an exciting milestone. At precisely 4:00 p.m., a dedicated team, including Lexington School District Two, the Greater CWC Chamber & Visitor’s Center, Cypress Real Estate Partners, and the City of Cayce, made history with the grand opening of Hattie’s Crossing.

A New Chapter for Cayce

Located at 800 Lexington Avenue, this redevelopment is all about creating a vibrant community while leaning into the rich history of the area. Mayor Pro Tem Tim James, who is also the President of the Greater CWC Chamber of Commerce, shared his genuine excitement about the project. As a former student of Cayce Grammar School, he expressed, “I am excited to see the history of our beloved school memorialized; it’s a fantastic way to welcome new families to our community.”

Honoring a Local Hero

What makes this development even more special? It’s named after Hattie Derrenbacher, a revered educator who devoted her life to teaching the future leaders of Cayce. In remarks from Lexington Two Superintendent Dr. Brenda Hafner, she said, “It’s a fitting tribute to Hattie, whose influence will continue to shape our community through the children she taught.” This thoughtfulness reflects the heart and soul with which the project was conceived.

A Home for New Families

Mark James from Cypress Real Estate Partners also expressed his enthusiasm about the revitalization efforts. “We have worked hard with the City of Cayce to honor the legacy of this neighborhood school, transforming it into a new residential community that’s both attractive and functional,” he said. The new single-family homes will feature a blend of classic and modern architectural styles, making it a perfect spot for families looking to settle down in this charming area.

Community Vitality on the Rise

Cayce does not just stand still; it’s moving forward! Interim City Manager Jim Crosland highlighted the significance of infill development, stating, “This is a perfect opportunity for partnerships that transform a blighted property into a vibrant housing opportunity. It’s about progress and creating spaces where families can thrive.”

What This Means for Residents

If you live in or around Cayce, this project is a clear indication of the positive changes on the horizon.
