Columbia is getting ready for a fantastic event that promises to blend health, humor, and community spirit together in a way you definitely don’t want to miss! The second annual Healthy Laughter comedy weekend is set to take place from November 29 to December 1, and it’s bound to be a hit for everyone involved.
This isn’t just any comedy show — it’s a chance to bring awareness to health issues while enjoying some good old-fashioned laughter. Hosted by WF Media Group, the lineup includes impressive national talents like Joey I.L.O. and Donald Martin. Picture this: a night filled with laughs, all while supporting a noble cause!
But wait, there’s more! If you register for the Health Expo on Saturday afternoon, you can enjoy the Saturday night comedy show for free! Now that’s what we call a win-win situation!
The Health Expo is where all the action happens on Saturday. What can you expect? For starters, there will be free biometric health screenings courtesy of PRISMA Health. These screenings are a great way to gather important info about your health and take proactive steps toward a healthier lifestyle.
And let’s not forget about the food trucks! Delicious eats will be available for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite or a healthy meal, the Expo won’t disappoint your taste buds. To top it off, the event will feature a healthy talk panel, which aims to spark conversations around important health topics in the Black community.
The idea behind Healthy Laughter is quite inspiring. Co-founder of WF Media Group, Eunissa Warnock, shares the goal: “Our hope is that as we’re disseminating information regarding health and wellness, it will start to impact people’s lives.” The intention is to create an event where laughter meets learning, and a sense of community is built along the way.
Originally birthed in Savannah over 21 years ago, the Healthy Laughter initiative aimed at encouraging African American men to get prostate exams through the enticing offer of free comedy show tickets for those who participated. That first year, tickets sold out almost immediately, paving the way for a movement that merged health awareness with entertainment.
But Eunissa’s motivation goes even deeper. A few years back, she faced her own health challenges when she was diagnosed with blood clots in her legs, initially triggered by increased stress. “That really shook me, as you could imagine,” Eunissa expressed. Now, she is passionate about emphasizing the importance of stress management as a key focus of Healthy Laughter.
The Healthy Laughter comedy shows and Health Expo will be held at 124 Diamond Lane. It’s a perfect opportunity to bring your family along and enjoy a fun-filled day that brings together entertainment, education, and community bonding.
Don’t miss this chance to combine some good laughs with learning about health! You can learn more about the upcoming events by visiting WFMediaGroupInc.com. Mark your calendars because this weekend promises to provide valuable insights on wellness, all while keeping the atmosphere light, fun, and family-friendly.
