Lexington County School District One’s Luke Clamp is set to take on a new role as a deputy superintendent with the Charleston County School District, marking a significant transition in his educational career and leadership journey.
Clamp, currently serving as the Secondary Schools Executive Director for Lexington One and the founding principal of River Bluff High School, will be moving to Charleston County School District in the upcoming school year. The announcement of his new position was made on April 29 after an extensive interview process conducted by the Charleston County School District.
In his new role as deputy superintendent, Clamp will be responsible for supervising and advising leadership within the Charleston County School District, working alongside Superintendent Anita Huggins. The Charleston County School District, being one of the largest districts in the state, serves more than 50,000 students, providing Clamp with the opportunity to impact a significant student population.
Expressing his gratitude for his time at Lexington One, Clamp highlighted the support and experiences he gained while working with students, faculty, and staff in the district. He acknowledged the positive influence of Lexington One in his career, mentioning that the district played a pivotal role in his leadership journey, from his start at Lexington High School to leading River Bluff High School.
Clamp, along with his wife, explored and researched the Charleston County School District before deciding to accept the deputy superintendent position. In making this decision, Clamp emphasized the importance of faith as a guiding factor in his career choices.
“Dr. Clamp is a data-driven, strategic educator whose efforts garner success for all students,” Superintendent of Schools Anita Huggins said. “A systems leader, he was selected as a result of his breadth of experience, proven leadership skills, and dedication to advancing educational outcomes for all students.”
As Clamp gears up to transition to the Charleston County School District, his move signifies a new chapter in his educational leadership journey, centered on serving and leading a diverse student population and contributing to the educational growth and success of the district.
