This December, Columbia is stepping up in a big way to honor our Veterans. Governor Henry McMaster has officially proclaimed the month as “Wreaths Across America” Month. It’s a time for remembrance, gratitude, and action as the community gears up to pay tribute to those who have served our country.

Joining Hands Across the Nation

On December 14, an impressive 2 million volunteers all over the nation will come together in a heartfelt effort. Armed with holiday spirit and love for their country, they will place wreaths on the graves of Veterans, ensuring that these brave individuals are remembered and honored.

Here in Columbia, we won’t be left out of the special celebration. At Fort Jackson National Cemetery, a whopping 13,000 wreaths will be laid at noon on that same day. This local effort highlights how much we care for our heroes, steadfast in our commitment to remember their sacrifices even in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

Participating in this tribute is simple! Each wreath costs $17, which goes towards the sponsorship of these honors.
