In a somber turn of events this weekend, the quiet Oak Grove area of Lexington County was shaken by a tragic house fire that claimed the life of one man and another sustained injuries. The blaze broke out in the early hours in a residence located on the 200 block of Oak Ridge Lane.
Initially tackling the blaze, Lexington County Fire Service made the horrifying discovery of a deceased male within the premises. A second individual, sustaining multiple injuries was found outside of the main home in an adjacent shed. This man has since been transported to a local medical facility and is anticipated to make a recovery.
Following the extinguishing of the fire, the scene was handed over to local law enforcement. Officers from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are now faced with the daunting task of sifting through the detritus of the gutted house as they piece together the events leading up to the deadly fire.
It is anticipated that Coroner Margaret Fisher will order an autopsy for the deceased victim before his identity can be released. The examination will provide vital evidence to the investigation, potentially shedding light upon the cause of the tragic blaze.
