Generosity Shines Bright After Hurricane Helene in South Carolina

Columbia, SC – In the wake of Hurricane Helene, South Carolinians are showing their true colors with an outpouring of support. A special fund aimed at aiding storm relief has hit an impressive milestone, raising over $5 million! This extraordinary sum marks the highest amount ever collected by the One SC Fund at the Central Carolina Community Foundation for a single cause since it began in 2015.

Helping Hands Make a Huge Difference

What’s even more heartwarming is that this fund is directed towards aiding local nonprofits that are tirelessly working to assist those impacted by the hurricane in designated disaster areas. These areas are eligible for assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Georgia Mjartan, the president and CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the kindness and generosity shown by organizations, individuals, and businesses. “It is incredible to see the generosity of all the organizations, individuals and companies who have given to the One SC Fund. Because of their contributions, nonprofits will have the resources to do the meaningful work of relief and recovery in the areas most affected by Hurricane Helene,” said Mjartan. Her words resonate with many, highlighting how collective efforts are touching lives.

How to Contribute

If you’d like to lend a hand, there are two easy ways to contribute. Donations can be sent online or by mailing a check made out to the Central Carolina Community Foundation – One SC Fund at the following address:

If you know an organization that assists in Hurricane Helene relief and recovery, they may want to check out the application process to become a part of this initiative. You can find more details about the grants by visiting the Central Carolina Community Foundation’s website.

Roads and Bridges Update

Meanwhile, the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is actively working to assess and repair roads and bridges throughout the state that were affected by Hurricane Helene. The assessment process involves inspecting infrastructure for any damages and prioritizing repairs to ensure that communities can bounce back and return to normalcy.

As areas recover, the transport team is on the clock, making sure that roads are safe and passable for residents and emergency services alike. This means that prompt action is being taken to fix any potholes and clear debris so that life can get back on track as soon as possible.

A Community United

While the devastation brought by Hurricane Helene has been challenging, it’s truly incredible to witness the spirit of the community coming together. From backyard BBQ fundraisers to corporate donations, everyone is doing their part to make a difference. This collective action really highlights the strength and resilience of South Carolinians in times of need.

As we move forward, it’s essential for everyone to stay informed on how they can help and to keep each other’s spirits up. Whether it’s volunteering your time, providing donations, or simply spreading the word about available resources, every little bit helps in rebuilding affected communities.

Stay tuned for further updates on the recovery efforts and how together, we can help turn the tides from disaster to hope!
