Columbia Welcomes New President for Midlands Technical College

Columbia, South Carolina – The city is set to celebrate the inauguration of Dr. Gregory D. Little as the seventh president of Midlands Technical College (MTC) this week. The ceremony will take place at the Harbison Theatre on Tuesday at 6 p.m., marking a significant milestone for the college and its community.

Who is Dr. Gregory D. Little?

Before his appointment at MTC, Dr. Little had an extensive career in education. He served as the superintendent for both the Mount Airy City Schools in North Carolina and Lexington School District One in South Carolina. In 2022, Dr. Little became the Vice President for Strategic Partnerships and Innovation for the South Carolina Technical College System. Prior to this role, he was the acting executive director and president of the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education.

His Vision for Midlands Technical College

In his initial months at MTC, Dr. Little has taken strides to connect with business partners, faculty, staff, and students. He emphasized the college’s dual mission of providing quality education while also being a catalyst for dreams and aspirations. “It is clear to me that while we provide high quality, higher education at an affordable price, we are really in the dream making business,” Dr. Little said.

Dr. Little has a solid educational foundation, having earned his undergraduate degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He furthered his studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he obtained both a Master’s Degree and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction.
