Chapin Business Owner and Former Firefighter/EMT to Run for Lexington County Council District 6

Jason “JJ” Resnick, a successful small business owner and former firefighter/EMT, is seeking the Republican nomination for Lexington County Council District 6, his campaign announced today. This seat is currently held by incumbent Charlene “Charli” Wessinger.

With nearly 25 years of experience as a first responder, Resnick will make improving public safety a top priority. “Our first responders and Lexington County citizens both deserve a councilman who will provide them with the tools and resources they need to reduce response times, ensure EMS coverage throughout the county, and guarantee adequate police presence,” said Resnick. “I fully understand the consequences of a sheriff’s department and EMS service spread too thin. Right now, County Council is missing that perspective.”

Resnick started JJ Rez, LLC in 2006. He says his business experience running a lean and efficient company makes him an excellent watchdog to make sure taxpayers’ money is spent wisely. “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and employ the vast majority of our residents,” said Resnick. “The burdensome regulations and red tape that council places on these economic drivers of our community hurt our overall prosperity. I’ll work to remove government barriers in the workforce and make Lexington the friendliest county for small business in South Carolina.”

Resnick said his other priority as councilman will be the smart and effective management of growth. “When growth is poorly managed, it often destroys the quality of life, increases crime, and changes the small-town charm residents are accustomed to,” said Resnick. “We must be mindful of the present, but with an eye on the future, so that the decisions council makes today don’t have negative consequences 5, 10, or 20 years down the road.”
