News Summary

Starting April 9, Lake Murray Public Park will implement an online reservation system launched by Dominion Energy. Visitors can purchase a $5 day pass for one-time entry, making access smoother while cash payments will no longer be accepted. The park aims to enhance visitor experience and manage overcrowding as it welcomes approximately 100,000 guests annually. Signs will inform visitors about the new policies, and other nearby parks will still allow entry without reservations. Excitement builds as the community looks forward to enjoying the park this season.

Exciting Changes Coming to Lake Murray Public Park!

As springtime rolls into our beautiful city, Lake Murray Public Park is gearing up for a fresh and new season! Starting April 9, the park will open its gates to the public, but there’s a twist this year that every visitor should be aware of.

Introducing Online Reservations!

This season, Dominion Energy is launching an innovative online reservation system on March 19, aimed at making your visit to the park smoother than ever. The days of scrambling for a spot are over, as visitors will now have the option to purchase a single-use $5 day pass through the DominionEnergy.com site.

Visitors can plan their trips up to three weeks in advance, ensuring a hassle-free entrance once April arrives. It’s important to note that each pass will be valid for a one-time entry only. If you step out of the park for a snack or a break, don’t forget: you’ll need to grab another pass for re-entry!

No Cash Payments Accepted!

In light of this new system, Lake Murray Public Park will no longer accept cash payments at the gate. This change comes as part of the park’s effort to streamline operations and enhance the overall visitor experience.

Why the Change?

This shift from the previous first-come, first-served policy has sparked a mix of emotions among the public. While some visitors are enthusiastic about the chance to secure their entry in advance, others share their concerns regarding the reservation requirement. It’s a big change, and change can take some getting used to!

The President of Dominion Energy mentioned that the goal behind these updates is to improve the experience for everyone while also managing park capacity. It’s no secret that Lake Murray Public Park sees an influx of around 100,000 visitors annually. With summer around the corner, overcrowding during peak times can be a challenge.

Informing Visitors

To make sure everyone is in the loop, you’ll notice signs placed outside the park, detailing the new reservation policy. This way, all visitors will be well-informed as they plan their outdoor adventures.

Other Parks and Boating Options

It’s worth noting that not all parks operated by Dominion Energy will require reservations. Parks along Lake Murray and Lake Monticello will remain reservation-free, so you can still enjoy the beauty of nature at your leisure!

Additionally, if you’re a fan of water activities, you’ll be glad to hear that the boat launch on the Irmo side of the Lake Murray dam will continue to be open without any reservation requirements. So, grab your boat and head out for some fun on the water!

Looking Forward

This year, with its new policies, Lake Murray Public Park is committed to ensuring that your visit is more enjoyable and organized. Be sure to mark your calendars as spring unfolds, and gather your friends and family for a day of adventure and relaxation at this cherished local gem!

With all these changes taking effect, excitement is in the air as we anticipate another wonderful season at Lake Murray Public Park. Happy planning, and see you at the park!
