Lanes Reopen After Unusual Collision Involving Martial Arts Bus and LPD Patrol Vehicle

Sunset Blvd. Intersection Fully Operational Once More

Sunset Boulevard in Lexington, South Carolina, has finally resumed normal traffic flow after a peculiar accident occurred earlier today. Authorities report that a martial arts school bus from Legacy Martial Arts and a Lexington Police Department (LPD) patrol vehicle were involved in a collision at the intersection of Sunset Blvd./US-378 and Palmetto Park Boulevard. The accident led to a temporary closure of the inbound lanes.

Collision Details

The unusual incident is believed to have been caused due to traffic congestion. The exact details of the accident are not yet clear, as South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the circumstances surrounding this peculiar collision. The patrol vehicle alongside the martial arts bus were soon removed from the road, thus ending a major part of the disruption.

No Injuries but Necessary Precautionary Measures

Fortunately, neither the bus driver nor the children onboard were injured in the accident. There were reportedly eight students inside the bus at the time of the incident, and they appeared to be unharmed. Following the collision, all the children were safely released to their guardians or sent back to the after-school program center.

On the other hand, the officer involved in the collision was taken by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital as a precautionary measure for a thorough check-up.

Temporary Detours and Traffic Instructions

Due to the accident, traffic was temporarily rerouted through the Hobby Lobby parking lot to Saluda Springs Road. The Lexington Police Department had advised commuters to expect congestion and if possible, avoid the area until the wreckage was cleared and the investigation concluded.

Resume of Normalcy

As the bus and LPD patrol vehicle have now been removed from the scene and the lanes have reopened, normal traffic flow has resumed. It is indeed fortunate that no injuries were reported and the children aboard the bus were unharmed. The swift response from law enforcement and other community members helped minimize the potential impact of the collision.

This accident highlights the importance of stringent driving protocols and traffic supervision in urban areas, especially during heavy traffic hours. Local authorities continue to encourage drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic rules in order to maintain the safety of the roads and the well-being of the community.
