Law enforcement agencies are actively fighting drug trafficking in Lexington County.
DeAndre Malcolm Black, a 49-year-old drug trafficker in Lexington County, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after being convicted of methamphetamine trafficking. This marks his third drug-related conviction since 2021. In related cases, other individuals received significant sentences for trafficking fentanyl and meth as authorities ramp up efforts against drug crimes in the community.
In a significant turn of events, Lexington County has witnessed a stark reminder of the perils of illegal drug trafficking. DeAndre Malcolm Black, 49, found himself on the wrong side of the law once again as a jury convicted him of trafficking methamphetamine. This verdict came after he was caught red-handed selling over 28 grams of this dangerous substance during a narcotics operation on April 17, 2023.
Black’s latest conviction isn’t an isolated incident. In fact, this marks his third drug-related conviction since 2021. His past is far from clean, with prior convictions related to assault, burglary, and even pointing or presenting a firearm. Under the strict laws of South Carolina, Black won’t be seeing the light of day anytime soon, as he has been sentenced to a hefty 25 years behind bars with no chance of parole. This classification as a serious and violent offense makes it unlikely for him to reverse his fate anytime soon.
But Black isn’t alone in facing the consequences of illegal drugs. In a related series of cases, three other individuals also received stiff sentences. Jakob Regan Dator, 21, pled guilty to trafficking fentanyl and has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, also without eligibility for parole. Law enforcement discovered over 500 fentanyl pills during a traffic stop, showcasing the depth of his illegal dealings.
Christina Lindemuth, aged 52, wasn’t spared either. She received a 19-year sentence for trafficking methamphetamine after over 200 grams were uncovered in a hotel safe. Lindemuth’s case paints a grim picture of how deep the drug problem runs in the area.
Additionally, Bradford Scott Price, 39, was sentenced to 9 years for trafficking both methamphetamine and fentanyl, with more than 35 grams of meth and over 8 grams of fentanyl seized during a police search. This group has been moved to the South Carolina Department of Corrections, where they will begin serving their lengthy sentences.
Meanwhile, authorities are responding to the rampant drug issues in Lexington County with increased vigilance. Recently, Ansel Yameen Sparrow, 34, and 21-year-old Victoria Katherine Harley found themselves in hot water following community tips that led to their arrests. The duo was charged with multiple counts, including trafficking cocaine and possession with intent to distribute both meth and marijuana.
The investigation into Sparrow and Harley’s activities uncovered a stash of drugs, a handgun, and an astonishing amount of over $9,000 in cash found in their apartment. Sparrow, already with a troubled history, was also charged with possession of a firearm due to previous convictions. This points to a troubling trend of violence intertwined with the drug trade in the community.
The recent court sentences and the proactive police actions highlight the ongoing dangers of illegal narcotics in Lexington County. Authorities are continuing their fight against this epidemic and taking significant steps to keep the community safe. As the community rallies together and law enforcement ramps up their efforts, there’s hope that the grip of drugs will loosen, paving the way for a safer future ahead.
