Lexington County comes alive with vibrant events
The everyday life of Lexington County is getting an exciting twist this week. A plethora of fun activities – from concerts, plays, and celebrations – make up the packed itinerary enticing both locals and tourists alike.
Friday – June 28
The popular Nashville Nights concert series continues at Steel Hands Brewing with a performance by Gabe Lee, an influential singer-songwriter who has performed alongside renowned artists such as Los Lobos and Jason Isbell. The concert is free for all and starts at 6 p.m.
The area gets an early start to Independence Day celebrations at the Icehouse Amphitheater featuring a performance by the 246 Army Band and a grand fireworks show. The event begins at 7 p.m. and is family-friendly and free of cost.
For theatre-goers, Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College presents “Dixie’s Tupperware Party,” a humor-filled play showcasing the multifaceted uses of Tupperware. Tickets are priced at $40.
Saturday – June 29
Fireworks light up Lake Murray’s sky at two sites – Spence Island & Dreher Island. With the patriotic music playing in sync with the visual spectacle, attendees can tune into 93.1 radio.
A captivating Colonial Forts Tour walks you through significant battlegrounds and fortifications of the Civil War. Starting from Cayce Tennis Center, the tour is free to attend and lasts 2 hours beginning at 11 a.m.
Thursday – July 4
Get ready for a peachy Fourth of July at the Lexington County Peach Festival at Gilbert Community Park. A peach parade, car show, live music, peach pageant, arts & crafts vendors, and luscious peaches await you. And yes, there’s a fireworks show at the end.
In West Columbia, join the party at Lexington County Baseball Stadium with a local face-off between the Blowfish and Lexington’s Glowfish. The match begins at 7:05 p.m., followed by a fireworks display.
Crossing County Lines
Further afield, Friday Night Laser Lights at the SC State Museum offers an innovative laser show choreographed to iconic tracks from Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, and The Beatles.
For theater aficionados, the Ritz Theatre presents the famous production, “Rent” with tickets priced at $15. And for nature-loving anglers, Bass fishing competition at Saluda Shoals Park is an absolute delight.
